This is the installation video for FlipCrown.
Remove the quill stem by unscrewing it from the top of the stem. You can use the FlipCrown Pocket tool for this. If you have an old or rusty bike you might need to use an Allen key with a longer 'arm'. Check out this video if you have trouble removing the stem.
Remove the top crown nut, since you will be replacing this with the FlipCrown. In some rusty cases you might want to use a large wrench, instead of the wrench provided. You coud also use a pair of pipe wrench pliers. Using WD40 or some other type of lubricant can also help.
Place FlipCrown. But before you do, make sure the small setscrew at the bottom does not portrude on the inside of the FlipCrown. This could damage the thread of your steerer tube.
When placing the FlipCrown onto the steerer tube it is tricky to get the thread to 'catch'. It is crucial that the FlipCrown is placed correctly. Otherwise it will be impossible to screw the FlipCrown further. The first few turns should be rather smooth. You'll feel it when it's right.
Use the provided wrench to screw the FlipCrown further until the fits nice and tightly onto the spacer below. We like to point the FlipCrown forward. But this isn't strictly necessary. The advantage of pointing it forward is that the lower setscrew will end up onto the 'flat' side that most steerer tubes have.
Your headset might already have some spacers installed, you can use these, depending on how much steerer tube is visible (this is the threaded part you're now looking at). Simply adjust so that the inside threaded part of the FlipCrown is slightly more than the visible part of threaded steerer tube.
We highly recommend using our rubber spacer because this gives some extra tension to the assembly.
Replace the stem. Set it to your preferred height. Then lock it with the FlipCrown Pocket tool.
Tighten the three set screws of the FlipCrown.
To use FlipCrown, unlock the stem with the pocket tool, just push down on the pin and flip your steerer stem.
ALWAYS LOCK YOUR STEERER STEM WHILE RIDING!!!
